I have a couple of LG WK7 speakers with built-in Google Assistant as well as several Google Home devices. The LG speakers used to work fine until recently. It coincides with the recent changes due to the Sonos issue and issues with all speakers responding (which has just been fixed) so it may be related.
They no longer appear on the Home Hub screens when I cast to a speaker group using voice control - although the speakers do kick in.
Also, they refuse certain commands such as 'cast to all speakers'.
(Incidentally, when using the 'cast to all speakers' command on any device, it works some of the time but even when it does work it says 'Sorry, I'm not sure what you wanted to do.' I might post that as another thread.)
Anyway, any help with the LG WK7 speakers an what looks like limited integration is appreciated.
Thanks. 😁

Yep. It's unfortunate. I've currently got a $25 first gen chromecast plugged into my $1500 LG soundbar that I bought 3 years ago. Needless to say, that's the last $1500 LG will ever get from me. Phones, TVs, Kitchen Appliances, etc... I'll never buy LG again. Frankly, I may never buy another chromecast device again. I've also got apple TVs connected to 2 of my LG soundbars, and grouping audio works just fine via AirPlay.
I have 3 google home devices and 2 nest hub devices... so I'm somewhat commited to chromecast at the moment... but I have no plans to expand any further.
For what it's worth, Google's support for any 3rd party device has been generally terrible as well. I abandoned Android after 8 years because of similar problems with Samsung and LG not keeping 2 year old handsets current. I'd move out of GMAIL too at this point if it wasn't such a heavy lift.
All this is to say, Google products should come with a buyer beware warning. If they are going to steal all our data and monetize it, they could at least have the courtesy to keep the things we actually paid for up to date.

No offense,
If you cared, you would collect the various feedback that users are leaving here and you'd fix the problem.
From my perspective, Ive left more than enough feedback already, as have dozens of other users. But if you need me to tell you how bad google products are generally, and Chromecast specifically, bet!

I agree with @absentspace . I've had to buy two new Nest speakers to replace my LGs. How about a refund? I, and I think many others, will be reporting this issue to Trading Standards so that Google and its partners cannot sell products that they then make unusable. Hopefully they'll unite for a class action. Neither Google or LG give a **bleep**. Not the way that large companies should behave - but as they're so big, they don't care. The legislative route is sadly the only way. Wouldn't surprise me if a firm of lawyers takes it on for free to get the kudos!

I agree with @Kambo and @absentspace . This is disgraceful. I have $1000 worth of wk7's that don't perform as expected after a few short years, as LG never saw fit to deliver a cast update to them post sale. We are 9 months on from the initial Sonos debacle that bought this deficiency to light. We have all in these forums called out the issues over and over again. There has been no action from a majority of Googles hardware partners in relation to cast updates. So whoever at Google is monitoring these forums, take this as feedback and make something happen. We trusted you and bought into your ecosystem. How about you now support us and direct those you allowed to put the Chromecast onboard label on their products to make this right.
