Language issue for best hub gen 2

Hello all. 
I have a New Google Nest 2 nd Gen. 
I have set up the device in my existing Google home with other devices all working fine

 

The new device however behaves strangely. 
I did 3 resets and somehow it defaults to Spanish. I have one assistant set up in English us and the same on my phone. 

Really strange thing is that some cards on the device or options in the menu are in Spanish and some are in English. 
the device Information says Language English UK. 

Is it possible to fix this or should I return the device ? It is really strange that such a device would have this type of issues.

I have this too

device from danish webshop compumail that keeps switching back to Spanish ui language


is the device somehow locked to that language or is it a software bug ?

Yes! Under assistant setting and language I removed Swedish and re-added it. Set it as default again and removed English. All worked after that 👍

Did you also manage to change the displayed langauge on the Nest hub itself? Right now my Nest Hub is displaying Spanish menus, it responds in Spanish to commands awhile my Google Nest Wifi responds in Danish. It is one big mess…

All at the same time… Truly a recordbreaking ridiculous product.

No just add American English in assistant settings, remove all the others. Re-add your preferred language again. Restart units and it should be ok 👍

Hey Jake. The issue is still present. From what I can tell, so far I can get it to work on English UK, but the assistant is quite terrible. Does not understand commands or ignores them. Does not react to hey Google sometimes or even acknowledges and then does nothing. I have a Google speaker hub or mini all around the house, all set on English US. The behavior of this one is undefined for me. Tried several times to reset it but still it just defaults to Spanish and does not work if I set it to En US. Please let me know what I can do

Dear Jake. This thread is now consistently growing with  people that have the same issues. 

I think it is enough critical mass to start an actual “ fix “ workflow. 

 

For me, personally the issue persists and I have, since posting exceeded the normal timeframe for returning a device. So what is the solution ?

Hi Jake,

I have same issue with my Google Nest hub. 

My Nest Wifi is able to transfer commands in my native language (Danish) to the Nest Hub, but all menus and text on Hub is in Spanish - in despite of the Language Assistent being selected to Danish language.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Still having the same issue. 
Reset and re-adding it to my Google home causes the language to shortly awitch to my home language danish, but within some minutes switches back to Spanish.

Same here - also spanish. I’m in Denmark, all my other stuff (including another Nest Hub) is in Danish…

Hello, I have the same problem. Bought the assistant from the Google store. I can not change the language to Italian from Spanish. Not sure how to fix that. The language of the Google assistant is only italian.

Any help would be appreciated.

This worked for me as i found on another page;

«

Go to google home page and select your profile in top right. Choose languages and select the language that you want the hub to go to. (it goes without saying that the language should be supported in the nest device). I chose English (UK).

Go to you mobile phone language settings and choose as default the language that you want the hub to go to. Delete any other language. You can add it later, after finishing with the hub.
Uninstall the Google Home app.
Factory reset the hub (hold simultaneously volume up and down button for 10 seconds).
Install the Google Home app.
Set the hub up.
After that, my hub was in English but it was missing most of the features (actually it only had "curated art" on it). I unplugged the power cable, waited for a minute and when the hub booted, I got everything back, in English (it took a minute for all the menus and options to appear, most probably because of my bad internet connection - be patient)!»

 

but - i did this on a new phone just to check if it would work. So i didn’t have to reinstall all

my other Google devices.

i then took a hard reset again, try to add the device on my phone again - and then the same issue came back. The device is on spanish, but the assistant speak to me in norwegian (my language).

 

So i guess it will work if i reinstall the app on my phone, but i’m not to keen to try it out since the nest hub having the issues is supposed to be a present.

 

Just tried that - no dice! Still speaks spanish...

Exact same issue. Did you order this from NetOnNet? I already sent 2 devices back. I suspect they got a cheap batch from Spain

I have the same problem. Google support is useless. Bought the device in Spain. Worked in English on initial setup, but now defaults to Spanish after reset. Only language in my profile is English.

Same problem, got English and Swedish in my language settings, but I'm getting Spanish.. :S

I also have the same issue. I bought this in Sweden and it was in Swedish when I first installed it but suddenly it swished to Spanish and now it is impossible to switch to another language.
