Latency issue - Nest mini bluetooth speaker in speaker group

icheniche

Hi

I have three speakers in a speaker group including a nest mini. All works fine and there is no latency. The problem is that I want to use a blueooth speaker connected to the nest mini. The bluetooth connection from nest mini works fine alone but when included in the speaker group there is a massive latency. When connected to bluetooth it actually plays the music AHEAD of the other speakers (so not a delay really). Using the latency adjustment settings in the app on the other two speakers (or the nest mini bluetooth speaker) does not help.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that these issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,

Hi Garrett,

Thanks for your reply. I've tried reconnecting the Bluetooth devices, resetting the WiFi points and minis, and using the "group delay correction" feature. No matter what I try, the sound doesn't sync.

Hey there,

Thanks for the reply back, and I appreciate you letting me know what you have done to try and fix it.

Just to double check, you've tried to Factory Reset your Nest wifi devices as well as the Nest Mini?

Have you tried unlinking and relinking your devices to the app or the household as well?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Hi,

I appreciate the suggestions, Like Factory Reset and Restart ( Two main common soloution in IT world). But I think the fact that we are here with this somehow not "Normal" problem shows that we are beyond this commen soloutions and we need something real.

So please read the very good explanation from "icheniche" carefully and please uderstand the problem. I think we need an Update on the Home App to enable us to change latency adjustment settings furthur and more,

I also have the issue of the Bluetooth speaker connected to the Mini playing significantly ahead of the rest of my Minis & Hub when grouped. Far more than the 200ms delay correction can correct.

An update on this. I eventually solved the issue by connecting a Google Chromecast TV to a HDMI to sound adaptor and connected that via 3,5mm cable to the speaker. Wireless? Not exactly. Also expensive (and no use for the google mini I purchased for this reason) but it does the job and the "reverse" latency is not a problem with this setup. It's pretty obvious Google wants us to buy THEIR speakers and throw the old ones out. The unexplained  retirement of the very useful/popular Chromecast Audio speaks for itself. It would have done the job here but is not to be found anymore.

The HDMI to 3,5 sound adaptor I bought if anyone's interested: https://www.kjell.com/se/produkter/ljud-bild/kablar-adaptrar/hdmi/hdmi-signalomvandlare/luxorparts-h...
