Limited response

Hello- any help would be appreciated.

About 2 weeks ago, my Google mini speakers stopped giving weather(eg, temp, forecast, etc), and I've noticed other things that the response is "I'm sorry, I don't understand".

I've rebooted my entire system, did a factory reset on the speakers, did a reboot on my wifi, and still get "I'm sorry, I don't understand". Sometimes, she even repeats that statement 3 or 4 times in a row. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for any help. - M

same, all Google home enabled devices, ones from Google & Lenovo.. not location based issue, address checked in settings, voice match reset, even asking for random city such as Barcelona and if telling me the weather is part of a routine that was set - also applies if asking other questions, such as how old is Robert De Niro, or who are the stars of the movie Rocky, almost everything it answered previously now met with "sorry, I didn't understand"

I have 2 Google Home Mini both in the last 2 weeks have started to respond with Sorry I didn't understand" when I ask for the weather forecast. I have tried everything - reset wifi, uninstalled both devices and reset and same issue. Any advice please?

me too. i can't figure it out. tried everything  I can think of, just like you. it recognizes me but won't answer any questions that require it to search the internet.

I have been through to the support chat tried so many things and no joy, feedback has been sent about the issue.

Usually just a reboot of the speaker through the app solves issues like this.

A factory reset is a little heavy handed.

That sounds really frustrating, especially since both devices started doing it at the same time.

If you have already reset WiFi and factory reset both devices, it is probably not a hardware issue. Try checking your Google Home app and confirm that your home address is set correctly in device settings. Also make sure the language and region settings are correct.

You can try asking something more specific like what is the weather in your city name. Also check if the Google Home app needs an update.

Since both devices are affected, it could also be a temporary Google Assistant issue on Google’s side.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but I've already done all that. The only thing I can get is the date and the time. I did the factory reset as a last resort.

If you’ve already reset WiFi and factory reset both units, it’s likely not a hardware issue. Try checking the Google Home app to make sure your home address is set correctly under device settings. Also confirm the language and region settings are correct.

You can also try asking more specifically, like “What’s the weather in [your city name]?” to see if it responds properly.

Make sure the Google Home app is fully updated as well. Since both devices are affected, it could also be a temporary Google Assistant issue on Google’s side.

Hope that helps.

I have 4 Google Home devices running home assistant and this happened to me about a week ago. Google does not understand how to answer questions on the weather, sports scores, directions or do basic math calculations.   I don't want to risk upgrading to Gemini since it could break my Google chromecast audio connection.  there are many threads about this on reddit and there doesn't seem to be any visibility on how Google is looking to resolve the issue at this point. You are now part of the group who's smart speaker has become officially "dumb".
