I use a Nest Hub (2nd Gen) along with a Nest Cam (Outdoor battery model) as a baby monitor. I assume this is a pretty common use case based on other posts many others have made about doing this.
This issue is the camera will lose connection or just go black on the hub and never resume, sometimes going back to the photo gallery home screen. When the camera has appeared black on the hub, it was still visible on my phone without issue, making me think it is specifically a Nest Hub issue.
This is a major problem if you use this setup as a baby monitor and can't otherwise hear or see the baby. I would not recommend anyone do this until these issues get fixed.
I would like to request adding an option to default the display to view a camera feed, and automatically refresh the stream periodically to ensure it's always live. I shouldn't have to unplug the device and replug it in to get the stream back every time it goes out, which happens multiple times per week.

Hello V0,
Thank you for providing the details about the issue. I understand the importance of being able to monitor your child on the camera using your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). Please note that battery-operated Nest cameras can only stream for up to 5 minutes on your Nest Hub (2nd gen). After 5 minutes, you will need to reactivate the live stream in the app to continue streaming. Visit this link for your reference.
We're always looking for ways to improve — we'll take this as feedback. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Visit this link for more steps.
Let me know if you have additional concerns about your device; otherwise, I'll close the thread after 24 hours.

I don't think my issue is the same as you are describing. When it happens, usually a hard reset is needed on the hub to get the stream back up. Just reloading the stream will still show it as all black. Also, I have the battery camera but use it plugged in, and majority of the time the stream will stay up all night.
I hope Google is able to implement the features I mentioned above. Customization of user experience used to be what set Google apart.

Hey V0,
To confirm, when the video stream stops on your Nest Hub (2nd gen), do you reactivate the live stream in the Google Home app to continue streaming? Also, even though your camera is plugged in all the time, your Nest display will still detect it as a battery-operated camera due to its model number.
Cheers,
