Like you, I used this feature daily, to check where my family members were. Whether that was simply to be assured my kids were on the way safely to and from school or if my wife was safe in her hotel or office location when traveling abroad. Clearly, as long as they continue to give permission to be located, I can still check via maps on my phone or laptop but it's not as convenient as calling out "Hey Google, where's my wife?". I could do that with even looking up from my work!
