Long spotify podcasts stop playing during the night

Same problem as previous post

I have a spotify playlist with a single 12-hour long podcast of brown noise. I have a Bedtime routine that starts when I say "good night". The only action is to play music, specifically "Jeremy's Sleep Playlist" since that's very specific and hard to get wrong.

The hub responds "good night" and begins playing the podcast from where it left off. I'll wake up to use the restroom and it won't be playing. When I get back in bed, I say "hey google, resume spotify" and it resumes the podcast and it picks up always somewhere in the middle.

Basically, there seems to be a limit to how long you can listen to a single podcast episode. Like it requires some user input or something.

To be clear, this issue also happens when I use my phone instead of a Google routine. Going to the sleep playlist with the podcast episode on the Spotify app and casting to my bedroom speakers has the same result.

Thanks for your time and effort. Looking forward to having this issue resolved, or perhaps I will be given an explanation as to why the limit is in place. Either way, can't wait.

Hi PipWasTaken,

We apologize for the delay and inconvenience.

This is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done and the behavior is the same, you can try other music services and monitor. You can also revert your Nest device to its default settings by doing a factory reset. Here’s the link: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.

Kind regards,

Dan
