Matter with Google Nest Mini’s and Nest Hub

i understand Matter and have been quite excited about it for some time. and from the help article i read, most of my devices should be able to use it. so i am confused as to why my Google nest mini’s and my Nest Hub (1st Gen) are not showing they are matter enabled… the article states that new firmware updates have been given to specific devices so they can be Matter enabled. my devices info says they have the latest firmware updates, but there’s no indication that Matter is enabled. my Nest Thermostat is matter enabled however i cannot add it to any third party home without a Hub, but every hub i have that is supposed to be compatible will not let me connect. any ideas on why this is? do i need to go buy whole new products? please help

Hi @mikalah,

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'm sorry to hear your Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Mini aren't showing Matter enabled. I'd be happy to help!

To better assist you, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Which mobile device are you using with your Nest devices?
  • What is the system firmware version of both devices? You can find this under Device Settings > Device Information > Technical Information.
  • Are the Nest Hub and Nest Mini powered on and plugged into an outlet?
  • How recently did you set up the Nest Hub and Mini?

For now, I'd suggest the following steps:

  • If it's a new setup, the devices might take up to 2 days to migrate to a Matter-enabled build after the initial setup.
  • Make sure both devices are connected to a power source.
  • Ensure the Nest Hub and the Nest Mini are connected to your Wi-Fi network, and they say so online in the Home app.
  • Update the Google Home app and your phone's software to the latest versions.
  • Perform a reboot of the devices. You can refer to the following article for instructions: Reboot Google Home.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards

Jenniffer
