Media pausing constantly on Nest Hub 2nd gen

My new Nest Hub 2nd gen constantly pauses media over and over. When this happens, it displays a notification that it is receiving a gesture, but no gesture has been used and I am not close enough to the Nest Hub to be using gestures.

Basically, when I am cooking in my kitchen I often play media on my Nest Hub which is located on a shelf in a pass-thru window to the living/dining area. The music or news will constantly pause randomly as if I am gesturing but I am not and I am not in front of the display. No shadows are passing in front of the hub either. There is no reason for it to be sensing gestures.

I've seen one other post regarding this issue which suggested turning off gestures, but that is not a real solution since I do use gestures and I don't want to lose that functionality. I just want it to work properly and stop receiving phantom gestures.

Hi kappadappa,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s further look into this. Try to toggle the settings below:

  1. From the bottom of the display, swipe up.
  2. Tap Settings > Motion Sense > Turn off and on Motion Sense.
  3. Open the Google Home app.
  4. Tap Devices > Tap and hold your device's tile > Settings.
  5. Select Gestures > Turn Quick Gestures off and on.
  6. Unplug your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen device’s power cord for a minute > Plug back in. Monitor its behavior and let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
