Mic not available on home hub to speak through nest cameras

The mic option does not show up on my home hub or home hub max when monitoring my indoor nest cam iq. The only time the mic option shows on the hub is when I look at the camera feed on my nest doorbell.

I know that my mic settings are working for my indoor nest cam iq because I can use the mic setting on my phone apps (nest or Google home).

Same here. Doorbell works fine from next hub max but best cameras only show mic on the phone. Makes no sense - google!!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should, let’s get this resolved. I need to know a couple of things — was this feature working before? If so, we’re there any recent changes made before it started?

Let’s try to reboot your Google Nest displays and see if this will make a difference.

Best,

Juni

I did reboot and nothing. Seems like an ongoing issue for more than a year from what I'm gathering reading threads here (mostly closed threads which is boggling). If it is helpful I have second Gen indoor wired nest cams and the latest doorbell model. I think everyone expects the hub to work just like the phone app in terms of controlling the cameras - and it makes it extra confusing that the doorbell allows the hub to speak through it but no other nest cam is allowed. If this is to sell more doorbells, you are shooting yourselves in the foot. If it is a bug, why hasn't it been resolved yet after 14 months... If it is a technical (hardware/software) limitation between the nest hub max and the cameras which prevents audio streaming - I would suggest you document it well and add a solution to your next hardware iteration.

In the page you linked I don't see a way to send feedback from the nest hub max where it would set the device info and where the issue exists... Seems like a recurring theme (sorry, had to say it - whoever is working on the assistant app and the OS for the hub should make it more Android like and fix all these gaps)
