Mini speaker says "there was a glitch please try again"

duglop

1. Once again my Mini speaker is doing the same **bleep** thing: 5 minutes after asking my mini speaker a question or to perform a task Google says "there was a glitch please try again" meanwhile the task was initiated and completed! This does not happen on my Google home device! This is the 3rd time in 3 months I have had this issue!

2. Google audio replies are now all broken up again, unable to understand what is being said. This is also a repeat problem!

3. The wrong devices are answering again - I have a Google home Gen 1 in my living room and a Google mini in my bedroom - both have current firmware; both were working just fine last week!

I have rebooted both the mini and my Google home but problems still exist!

Hey duglop,

We're sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.

To eliminate network issues, try setting up your Google Home Mini using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Home Mini). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

@RachelGomez123: We appreciate your help here.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

No I am not doing that I want this fixed the way it should be you broke it you fix it no more of this bs run around stuff... I had the same problem last month you fixed it for all of 2 weeks and then this problem happened again and this is your answer...

As it is now this is already made my Google mini speaker unusable because it continues to get worse and this is your reply this doesn't fix the problem it's only going to create another problem especially if it takes two phones to do that... just fix the **bleep** problem that you created... enough of the games you have all the information you need

It seems like every time you guys create a new problem with an update, that can't be fixed, you have us either download something else or try to hold different way but you never fix any problem

Hey duglop,

I totally understand that troubleshooting can be frustrating, but these are the most helpful steps to further isolate the issue. Let's give it a try!

I'm not troubleshooting anything anymore I have troubleshooted enough for the last 3 years and I still hav3 the same problems, in fact now my lights are working again, and none of my TVs are working... but they all work perfect with their own apps so once again Google broke everything in my home everything for like the 13th or 14th time so please tell me again how I need to do troubleshooting... everything was working fine when I left here to go to work 10 hours ago. I just got home from work and now I got to deal with a dark house and dealing this bs... so tired of your excuses tired of your try this try that replies... I have troubleshooted this problems for 3 years now 3 years and I'm still having them and by the looks of things a lot of other people are still having the same problems as well that should tell you something right there... It's getting closer and closer to me telling Google f off and switching to Alexa

Forget it, I'm moving on, I've had enough for the second night in a row. I came home to nothing working again from Google, but everything worked from their own respective app. And the thing about that is, I have 17 different things in my household that run on Wi-fi, and they all work perfect from their own app. But Google tends to break them all the time. 17 different things 4 different brands. So. Don't tell me it's on my end... secondly, there are 2 problems here actually - the 1st is caused by your failed presence sensing software again- mine once again suddenly thought I was in Arizona, according to it, when I'm in Illinois! It literally stated the weather in Arizona when I asked for my weather, AND I also showed it on the screen which blinked right away when I tried to get a screen shot of it. This is ALSO a repeat problem which Google has acknowledged several times! The next problem is caused by the wrong device answering - which is what is causing my mini speaker to say "there was a glitch" or "something went wrong" - I watched it last night and asked question after question - once again these are fouled up - the 2 devices are over 20 feet apart, in different rooms - never had an issue with them at all until last year during another update (this was already escalated last year and was actually corrected, several times). Their solution to these problems was to put a sensitivity setting in the Google Home settings to control which device is the most sensitive - PS no I did not change them at all, but have noticed that the settings were different several times! ALSO Google has a bad habit of changing trigger words - ie using the word TV during 1 moment but the next update using the word TELEVISION instead! Then they try to pin that on us? Some of us aren't simpletons and actually know a little something! I can tell when there is a pending update or when there has been an update just by the way the devices act and operate! Your routines are also set up to run on either the Nest Home or the mini nest speaker (per settings) - tell me how much good that does when you are at work and not at home... how many people take either device to work with them on a different Wi-Fi network? So now your solution is to add another device in the mix to figure out where you screwed it up and how? Nah, not doing that - the simple solution is Hi Alexa! Problem solved!

I will post the same reply from another comment here....

let me first address my attitude and my language, I must own up to it and apologize for it. You hit the nail on the head. I am very annoyed by this because as I have stated numerous times I have had Google nest for about four or five years now and for the first two years I never had a problem but then a major major update changed everything, some for the good some for the not so good and then the problems started. Google hasn't been right since then and this doesn't just include Google home. I've noticed many people saying the same thing (after every Google update to any Google product) there's problems with all Google products; but in regard to a lot of the things that I have complained about in regard to Google home I have noticed other people stating the same exact things that I have gone through. The hard part is knowing if/when it's actually fixed. Many of these problems are repeat problems over the last two to three years. Just when I think it's fixed, it's broke again, and for many of these problems it took over a year before Google even addressed them and then it took another half year for anything to be done about them. So yes, I am extremely annoyed. I understand Google is doing this for free, I understand that. But so many problems also interfered with my job so I can only imagine what it is like being a paid Google subscriber going through the same problems. Many of the problems were created by the presence sensing as I have said before. When that changed it wasn't a smooth transition and there are still issues with it.
The annoying part has been that Google continues to not listen to its people and keeps insisting they are right, insisting about this correction insisting about that correction, when the fact remains Google changed something on their end that created the problems on our end. I have troubleshooted until I was blue in the face. I have filled out form after form after form. I have sent in numerous requests. I have emailed with Google back and forth. they have acknowledged many of these problems as known issues. So again, the problem is knowing when or IF they are fixed at all! How can we as consumers trust this? See the dilemma these problems create?

Just a quick update. As per the team, the issue you have with your device is similar with recent reports on certain setups that include multiple Google Assistant powered devices. This has been forwarded to our Developers/Engineering team. I suggest to continue this via email.

Let us know if you have other concerns about your device. Otherwise, we'll be closing this thread after 24 hours.
