My Nest Hubs aren't able to show the time accurately

I no longer see the Temperature displayed on the Hubs no matter what I try. This has been going on a few weeks now. Sometimes it comes back but it's the wrong value. At the moment I'm looking at the display and there's the time with "- -" for the temperature.

The other issue I have and it started this weekend when we (in Australia) went onto Daylight Savings Time. Although the units with a display (eg: Home Max) show the correct time they respond with the Incorrect time (pre Daylight Savings) when asked using the "Hey Google what's the time" command. The Minis also respond with the incorrect time.

Like yourself I've had these devices (7 in total) for a number of years and nothing has changed at my end. I've had the same Pixel phone for 3 years and the Home App hasn't been touched. I opened a Support Inquiry about the Time issue 3 days ago but I haven't heard back.

I'm not happy with (1) the hubs playing up and (2) the no reply. Not good enough.

Hi Rob_G,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your Nest Hubs don't accurately tell you the time. Let's see what's going on and get them working as expected.

To start, make sure your Hubs have the correct Google home address. The weather and time are based on this address unless you specify a different location.

Here's how to change the home address:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings > Home information > Home address.
  • Tap Edit > Enter your address > Next.
  • Drag the map so the pin is on your home, then tap Done.

After that, try restarting one or both of your Nest Hubs:

  • Go to their settings in the Google Home app > More > Reboot.
  • Or unplug them for one minute, then plug them back in.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Angel.

Hi there

Thanks for your prompt reply. I followed your instructions and below is a summary of events ....

I opened the Google Home App and my address matched exactly what I entered years ago. It was correct. In order to follow your instructions to a point I left the street address and home number unchanged and just re-entered the STATE (exactly as it was) and re-entered the POSTCODE (ZIP) exactly as it was. I never got the option of a Map so there was no pin to move.

I then re-booted one of my hubs and YES, the temperature reappeared and when asked the hub replied with the correct time. Before attempting to reboot the other hubs I checked to see what was on their screens. To my surprise they also showed the temperature and responded with the correct time. The mini hubs also replied with the correct time without a reboot.

It appears that the problem was resolved by just reconfirming the State and Postcode, Very strange !!!

My address has never changed and there's never been a reason to change it so some glitch somewhere caused this.

Thanks for your help but a bit of stability would be nice.

Regards

Rob

Hello Rob_G,

Thanks for your reply.

It's great your Nest Hubs are back up and running once again. We're working diligently in order to offer you a stable and seamless experience with your speakers, keep an eye out in the next few days for the weather and time information being displayed on your hubs, and feel free to let me know if something changes.

I'm glad I was able to help!

Regards,
Angel.
