My Sony Google smart speaker no longer plays radio stations.

Hi,

I see this isn't happening only to me but I can't find an answer among the posts on the issue.

For a year or so when I asked it to "play BBC Radio 4", my Sony Google smart speaker did just what I asked.

Last year it stopped working, It said and still says "streaming BBC Radio 4 on the BBC" but stays silent after that.

If I ask it to do it on "BBC Sounds" it says " I can't do that but you can ask me to play it on another device.

If I ask for "Gold radio" it says "streaming Gold radio from the Global Player" but then also stays silent.

How can I get it to play radio stations.

Thank, Peter.

Hi Abner,

We understand that your issue is isolated to your Sony smart speaker. Please note that we have very limited support for third-party speakers with a built-in Google Assistant. It is best to report this to Sony Support for better assistance. The integration of Google Assistant into third-party devices like your Sony smart speaker is different from that of Google Home or Nest speakers. If you need help with your Google Home or Nest devices, please do not hesitate to reply on this thread, and we're glad to assist you further.

Kind regards,

Dan

Hi Dan_A,

Thanks for your response. As far as I know this issue is not limited to the Sony speaker but I may follow the issue up with Sony as you suggest. I've also had a very detailed response from David_K with lots of things to try but feel I would need to go on an IT course to attempt any of the ideas. Maybe I'll go back to listening to the radio the old-fashioned way - yes on a radio - pressing that button works every time.

Regards,

Peter (aka Abner)

Hi Abner,

I'm just checking in to see whether you were able to get in touch with Sony's customer service team. Please let us know if you need help with your Google Nest devices.

Hi Juni,

I wrote a comprehensive answer to you question and when I hit the reply box I was told my message could not be delivered.  The bottom line was that I giving up on my smart speaker and this experience means that I'm also giving up on this platform.

Regards and hoping this response actually gets to you,

Abner
