My google home mini is not turning on at all. it was non responsive and would not even power up to show lights.

  • Tried to unplug the power cord and wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait but lights not turned ON. Power cord is working fine with other devices, tried with another cable and charger too, same problem.

Hi BJ121,

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand your Google Home Mini (1st Gen) isn’t powering up and is unresponsive. I appreciate your time and patience to troubleshoot; knowing the steps you tried allows me to move forward with other alternatives. I realize how confusing it is to experience that the troubleshooting doesn't work with your speaker, and I’m happy to explore further options with you to reach a resolution!

Please answer the following questions to help me figure out this situation:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Was there any type of electrical outage around the time the issue began?
  • Is the speaker plugged directly into a wall outlet or a surge protector?
  • Have you tried to use another wall outlet?
  • Are other devices able to receive power from the same outlet?
  • Is the official power adapter that came with the speaker used with your Google Home Mini?

While I wait for those details, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Unplug the power cord from your speaker or display into a different wall outlet; make sure that no surge protector is involved.
  • Discharge the speaker by unplugging the power adapter from the outlet and the speaker.
  • Leave it unplugged for 20 seconds.
  • Plug the power adapter back into the speaker and to a wall outlet that works.
  • Check out for any LED lights on the speaker.
  • Leave it unplugged for approximately 1 minute.
  • Plug the power cable back in.

If the device remains unresponsive or silent after the above steps, a factory reset may be necessary. Please keep in mind:

  • A factory reset clears all data from the device and can't be undone.
  • You will need to set up the device again on your Wi-Fi and link back to your Google Account.

To factory reset your speaker:

  • On the bottom of the Home Mini, press and hold the factory reset button (the etched circle below the power cord).
  • After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue holding for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Regards,

Humberto
