Nest Audio Pair can't play music after wifi change

I have two Nest Audio speakers that I set up as a speaker pair so I could hear music in stereo. Everything worked well for months.

This week I added a new Wifi router for this area of the house, and had to disconnect the speakers from the old Wifi by forgetting the network and then setting up the devices as "new" (this makes no sense by the way).

Once the speakers were set up, they were each able to play music separately by themselves just fine.

But when I create a speaker pair, nothing works. When I try to play choose the speaker pair from the Spotify app, the Google assistant on the speaker says "Something went wrong, please try again later." When I ask Google to play music, the left speaker says in the male voice "Something went wrong, please try again later" while the right speaker says in the female voice that I need to connect using a Google account.

I've separated the pair, set up the right speaker again, and set up the pair again three times. Each time the same result. They can play music individually, but now when they pair, one speaker drops out of my account and the other can't play music until I unpair.

Any tips on how to solve this?

"Left" speaker

  • System Firmware 277099
  • Cast Firmware: 1.54.277099

"Right" speaker

  • System Firmware 277099
  • Cast Firmware: 1.54.277099

They are both in the same home, placement, and wi-fi network.

Solved. Not sure why, but switching the Wi-Fi back to the original network allowed the speaker pair to work. I guess the speaker pair feature doesn’t work with a T-Mobile 5G Home Internet gateway…. Hope this helps other people in the future.
