Nest Audio won't connect to iPhone, keep getting "try again" message

I'm having the same problem as an earlier post. So frustrating!!!
"We just purchased a Google Next Audio.  We follow all of the steps as instructed, process goes well, says Connected then an immediate message comes up "something went wrong, speaker may be set up but we could not communicate with it from your iphone".  We went in and updated all privacy settings and enabled local network access and hit try again and did the same thing.  We've done this 5-6 times, we reset the Google Audio and we restarted our phones with no luck, can anyone help?"

Hey CatChat,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how challenging it can be when you can't setup your Google Nest Audio - help is here. To confirm, are you having Please make sure that you have the latest version of the Google Home app, and you are using a supported device listed below:

  • Android 6.0 or later.
  • iOS 12.0 or later.

Below are additional steps that you can try:

  1. Reboot your Google Nest Audio by disconnecting it from the power source and leave it unplugged for 1 minute.
  2. Force close and reopen the Google Home app.
  3. Try to manually connect to the device’s hotspot from your phone or tablet’s WiFi settings.
    1. Go to the WiFi settings on your mobile device.
    2. Open the list of available WiFi networks and look for an available network with the name “GoogleHomeXXXX" (where XXXX is a random number).
      1. Note: If you previously set up your device and have not factory reset it since it got kicked off of the network, look for the name of the device that you assigned to it in the list of available networks on your mobile device (Example: “Kitchen Home").
    3. If you can successfully connect to the speaker or display's SSID in your WiFi settings, open the Google Home app and try to set up the device.
  4. If it is still the same, try to set up your speaker or display using another supported iOS or Android device.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Dear Muddi, Thank you so much! it really is frustrating, and I've tried everything (including factory reset several times)

  • I've downloaded the latest version of Google Home, onto my iPhone13.
  •  I've rebooted my Google Nest Audio (disconnect from power source and leave unplugged for 1 min) several times
  • Force closed and reopened Google Home app
  • Opened list of available WiFi networks, but couldn't find “GoogleHomeXXXX"
      1. Have factory reset it
      2. Can't find my device in list of available networks (Example: “Kitchen Home").
    1. Can't connect to the speaker or display's SSID in your WiFi settings
    2. Opened the Google Home app and tried to set up the device.
  • If it is still the same, try to set up your speaker or display using another supported iOS or Android device
  • UNFORTUNATELY I don't have another device to try it on.
