Nest Hub 2 mixing languages

Miguel-Almeida

Since I cannot respond to that thread, here it is. I'm having a nightmare if problemas with GH, and its devices. This one I'm having too.

OP said:
I´m having an issue with the Nest Hub 2, with a mix of two languages on the screen. I have tried hard reset, and also switching both system language on iPhone and Assistant language to English, and then back to Norwegian. Then the Nest Hub works fine for a few minutes, before mixing English and Norwegian again..

I can see many people struggle with the same thing, but haven´t found a solution on Google.

Any solution to this?

In my case, its English (UK) which worked just fine, until I added my wife, the problem is she doesn't speak english, but does speak spanish (humiliating as this can be for ourselves, but it's the closest to portuguese). Now, I can only  command the lights and other stuff by voice, because where should be "Rooms", there's now a single button "habitaciones", unresponsive and doesn't display a single room or device.

This all thing with GH is driving me crazy, bit by bit, It's loosing all the cool features. Efectivelly becoming a dumb display and dumb assistant, like the other thing with the weather giving a search on google, instead of telling me the weather.

What on earth happened to Google Home?

Yesterday it automatically updated to Fuchsia, and everything went back to normal. Good, I thought, but how wrong was I.

Today, the mixing English Spanish language came back, the only difference is, now "habitaciones" show all my devices, but neither work, it simply shows the status "cargando" and giving back erros, all written in Spanish. Once again,  a good for nothing paperweight...

Hi Miguel-Almeida,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? When you did the reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link?

Try to set the Assistant language to English UK, then unplug your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). After a minute, switch it back to your preferred language and plug in the display. Observe the unit and let me know if it is still mixing languages after a while.

Best,

Dan

I did further than that. I factory reset, but still every now and then, the problem returns, I always had BR-En as my default language. My wife as Spanish. I think it happens when I'm not at home, GH senses that amd switches the interface to Spanish, than when it senses I'm back home, it messes everything up. Menu titles in English but everything in Spanish, amd broken, nothing works, even whenn iddle, this is, with the clock or the photo gallery, the date is in Spanish.

So summarising, Fuschia update, reset and hard reset did nothing at all.

Another question, it all started when I added my wife (with Spanish). Almost right from the beginning, a couple months ago.

Hey Miguel-Almeida,

Apologies for the delay. Kindly send us the firmware version of your Nest Hub (2nd Gen). Here’s how:

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

To check the version on your Nest display:

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Thanks,

Dan
