I did a factory reset (mute button, hold top etc.) to clear the device of a particular install that I chose not to proceed with. Now the thing just sits silently strobing the LEDS left to right ("trying to connect to wifi"?) forever completely unresponsive to any touch / voice interventions. Have tried the 10(+!) full power cycle hack (is that for real?) and it has not worked. Unhappy customer...

If you’re experiencing this behavior, you’ll need to factory reset your speaker using this workaround:
Unplug the power cord from your speaker. Wait for 10 seconds. Plug it back in, and wait until all 4 lights on top illuminate.
Repeat step 1, 10 more times.
After you plug your speaker back in the final time, you'll need to wait a few moments for the device to reset. It will announce "Welcome to Google Home. To get started, download the Google Home app on a phone or tablet," to let you know that it’s ready for setup.
This solution could be tedious, but your patience is greatly appreciated."
That is a breathtakingly awful (and useless, in my case), solution

Hi with2ells,
That certainly hasn’t been easy for you and we really appreciate you doing the troubleshooting steps. It means a lot.
Have you already tried the steps above? If so, how was it? If you’ve done all the steps and still the issue persists, our team would like to take a look at this, could you fill out this form and let us know once you're done?
Best,
Dan

I appreciate that you are trying to help and thank you for that. I tried the unplug, plug, reboot cycle for more than 10 times and it did not work (unsurprisingly), so I've sent it back to the shop as "not fit for purpose" under the consumer rights act 2015. It is not that I have done something wrong as a customer, but that this product does not have mature and robust software. This guy had exactly the same problems and I wonder how many others there are? Time for a product recall Google?
