Nest Hub Can't Set Reminders/Tasks Properly Anymore?

Hi there

Wondering if other people are experiencing this and if there is a fix?

I bought a Nest Hub a few years ago and have primarily used it to set reminders. I set them verbally.

When the reminder was due, the Hub would verbally read out the reminder for me and at the same time I'd get a notification on my Android phone.

This doesn't work properly anymore and hasn't done for a while now.

Firstly, the Hub doesn't always read out or alert me audibly about a reminder that is due - It'll show on the screen but no ping and not it being read out. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Secondly, it now refuses to even allow me to set a simple reminder properly...

Just now for instance I attempted to set a reminder for the 13th February.

I ask Google

  • "Hey Google, set a reminder".
  • It asks me to set a title.
  • Then a date, I say 13th February (it shows 13th February as being set)
  • Then finally it asks me to set a time - I say 6pm.  It then proceeds to completely rewrite the 13th Feb date and set the date for today?

It never did this before and it seems pretty ridiculous Google would randomly change it to work like that?

Are other people encountering this? Anyway to fix these issues?

I am thinking of going to Amazon as the Echo worked a bit more reliably for reminders that last time I tried.

Hi,

I just found a work around,

try saying,

“Hey Google, set a reminder”

set the title

Then, say the date and time together.

”13 th February at 0600 am”

or say the date

“13 th February”

and when it asks you the time, you will have to mention the time along with the date.

”13 th February at 0600 am” Or vice versa.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, yahyahameed.

Zorbo, thanks for reaching out. Have you tried the steps provided by yahyahameed? When it's time for the reminder, the speaker or display will play a sound, and Google Assistant will announce that you have a reminder.

  • On a speaker, the lights will pulse, then a single white light will stay on for 10 minutes.
  • On a display, the screen will dim.

To hear the reminder, you can use one of these voice commands:

  • "Hey Google, what's up?"
  • "Hey Google, what are my notifications?"
  • "Hey Google, what are my reminders?"

After the Assistant reads the reminder, the reminder is marked as read.

You can ask about the day's reminders at any time by saying "Hey Google, what are my reminders?"

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni
