A big advantage to buying a Nest Hub Max is because of the Nest Cam built-in to the device.
However, Google cut the value and usefulness of this device in half last year when they eliminated most of the camera functionality.
If the user is displaying any form of video on Hub Max, ie: streaming another Nest Cam, youtube, Duo, youtubeTV, etc.... the Nest Camera is disabled and the video feed becomes not available. This does not make any sense AT ALL!!
We use our Hub Max for a variety of use cases. One of the biggest reasons we spent thousands of dollars buying into the Nest ecosystem was for home security and also to use Nest Cams and Hub Max as baby monitors. But now if I stream the nursery camera on my living room Hub Max the Nest Cam inside (hub max) is instantly disabled -- WHY????

Camera on Max Hub not workong

I would guess that Google Nest never designed the Nest Hub Max to stream in both directions simultaneously. That is, streaming out from the Nest Cam in the Nest Hub Max and streaming in to the screen on the Nest Hub Max from another source. That seems it would be challenging to do. For example, the incoming stream could be broadcasting sound onto the speaker on the Nest Hub Max while the outgoing stream could be trying to pick up sound occurring near the same Nest Hub Max

The Hub Max worked like this for the first year from release date and then Google updated the firmware and killed this functionality.
We used to be able to stream the Nest Cam IQ in my daughter's room and the Hub Max camera would still function.
My kids used to be able to watch a video on Hub Max and I could check in on the Nest Cam and see they were still watching the video.
For whatever reason Google disabled this and the audio crossover you speak of was never an issue. I don't say this to be rude but I'm guessing you have not had Hub Max in the house since Day 0?

I didn't know that; I stand corrected. We've had our Nest Hub Max since November 2021.
I wonder why Google Nest removed the capability? (But then, Google Nest removed functionality when it decided its new cameras would work only in the Google Home app.)

Hi Folks,
@MplsCustomer, thanks for helping.
@Wee, I understand that this feature was working. However due to the recent update when the Nest Hub Max streams another Nest Camera (Nest Cam Indoor/Outdoor, Nest Hello) on its display, the Nest Hub Max's built-in Nest Cam becomes unavailable. The Nest Hub Max's display shows the message "Nest Cam monitoring off" and the Google Home app and the Nest app shows the Nest Hub Max's Nest cam as "offline".
I suggest you to send feedback, here's how.
@Bitch3, is this in relation to this concern? If not, we encourage you to create a new thread so we can better assist you.
Keep me posted.
Best,
Juni

people buy products from tech companies because of what they offer. When that company then removes features without warning or reason they are then degrading the value of the product and usefulness it provides to the user.
I understand this change happened because of an update. However, Google continually refuses to provide reasoning or warning when they remove features people spent hard earned money on.
