Nest Hub Max Screen is Solid White

Today, my Nest Hub Max started to show a solid white screen.

I have tried the following fixes:

  1. Rebooted (several times), and it went to the G logo on a white screen.  It never got any further in the startup process

  2. Factory reset, and was able to start the setup up process. Got to the last screen where it has a button saying Finsh Setup on the Google Nest Max. The Hub then went to a white screen. The Google Home app is stuck on a screen saying Configuring your Nest Hub Max.

  3. Repeated factory reset, and same result as the first time.

On the Nest Hub Max, pressing volume keys will raise or lower the volume, and show the volume indicators on screen. Swiping up does nothing. Nor swiping any other direction. Switching camera off displays the camera off message at the top of the screen.

From my searches it appears many others have had this problem, but none of the solutions are working.

What else can I try, or is it time for a replacement?

I have spoken with phone support in the meantime.  As soon as they knew how old my hub was, they said that there was nothing they could do because it was out of warranty.  My options were to find a 3rd party repair shop (which does not exist where I live), or throw out the unit.

Luckily, I had not followed up on their suggestions right away.  Sometime overnight, the Nest Hub Max fixed itself, and was working about 36 hours after it first went to a white screen.

I am not very impressed with the phone support when they recommend a costly fix, or to throw out a unit that appears to have had a non hardware related issue.

To sum up, it is working again.
