Nest Hub Max stuck on 'finding joining device'. We've tried rebooting.
It is 'found' by Google Home app. Then google home can't add it (keeps saying 'loading'). Then Hub keeps saying 'looking for joining device to help connect'. . .then it says 'cant connect'

I use the hik connect and access the cams through their servers. I suppose privacy is an issue but they all point outside and certainly not in. Hik connect is a direct connection from NVR\PVR TO them.
I just sold my Old Google max and 3 nest hubs on marketplace today. 5 minis and 3 old homes, and all I will have left is 2 hub max, and 2 pairs of nest audio.
I don’t even use google assistant now.
Alexa is certainly different, but it simply works. The options are quite wild, and I am once again excited to learn not by trial and error, but by trial, and WOW!
good luck!
keep in touch!

I nearly gave up on this. then i moved the hub next to my doorbell, unplugged all my other cameras and speakers, drew a pentagram on the floor and retried nest linking. viola. worked like it was supposed to. apparently, it was a proximity issue as all other nest products are pretty far away from the hub.

😂. Thank you … but enough was enough for us… we got Google to take it back. Waiting for our refund now. I’m sure that will require a few months of “escalation “ as well . 🙂

Hi folks,
How are we all doing? Just chiming in to see how everyone is. Are you still experiencing the same behavior with your Nest Hub Max or any other Nest speakers? I believe some have already contacted you via email, right?
Best,
Dan

We 'solved' the issue . . .returned the Nest Hub Max to Google and got our money back.

Don’t bother wasting your and out time Dan. There is no solution to a poorly thought out integration of nest to home.
The overlords at google know this, and they know that we are the Guinea pigs.
I predict that it will all change as google drops even more people from the home project. Google has burned there bridges with outlandish costs to subscriptions, followed by little to no support.
good luck

Hi folks,
I totally understand that troubleshooting can be frustrating, but these are the most helpful steps to figure out what's going on with your device. Kindly give our higher support team a chance since you've already been contacted by them. Please, continue the conversation there because there are just limitations here in the Community when it comes to troubleshooting and information. It's also for your account safety and security.
Hoping for your kind consideration and understanding.
Best regards,
Dan

Dan, sound like you have not been doing this for very long. The teams that work on these issues deliver the same canned, scripted responses. Being kind has little to do with this. No one is unkind, but perhaps blunt, and upfront. This particular situation is a Google issue, not a customer issue. I could post some of the email responses I have received from the “team” , and the are laughable.

Glad it worked for you. But think about it for a second. If it was your only device, there would be no “joining device” issue. Also, consider the fact that the hub is installed and online before you attempt to do the nest camera garbage. So the very product you have online can’t hand off the WiFi info to the camera setup? So the issue of that NEST is likely still not fully integrated, and google opted for the worst thought solution possible, with zero explanation, and definitely zero support. This has to be the single dumbest process I have ever seen in “smart home”. If your hub is moved back to its original failing location…it miraculously works, and the camera as well! That is simply lazy on Google. Actually, it’s pathetic.

I was able to resolve this very issue. I have the nest app and the google home app on my iPhone. I went to add new device on the nest app and it asks for the QR code. Switched to the google home app and attempted to set up the nest cam until the QR code shows. I then switched back to nest app and scanned the nest max shown QR. The nest app will tell you to do this at the Google Home app and boom, it sets it up without issue. You should see a finishing up message quickly. Hope that helps. Stupid to have to do all that but hey..

Many thanks for posting this workaround. I agree it is stupid to do all this… we gave up and returned our Nest max for full refunds.
