Nest Hub Timer

Il timer non funziona più. Chiedo di inserire un timer ma continuamente mi risponde “per quanto tempo” e alla mia risposta continua imperterrito a chiedere.

Hi there,

Thank you very much for confirming that it works with this command in English. This time, however, I'd like the same command, "Hey Google, set a timer for 10 minutes," to be used in Italian to confirm if the Nest Hub and Nest Mini recognize it.

Keep me in the loop.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Hi, i forgot to say that all my tests were done using Italian.

"Hey Google, imposta timer di 10 minuti" works,
while the good old
"Hey Google, timer 10 minuti" does not work any more (regression).

Hi there,

Thank you so much for being part of this community! I understand you're experiencing issues with the timer on your Nest Hub and Nest Mini. I appreciate that you've already tried some troubleshooting, and I'm here to help.

To give you the best possible assistance, I need to ask you a few questions:

  • What are the devices affected?
  • What is the Firmware (Cast/Fuchsia) version of the device?
  • When did the issue start?
  • What is their specific command when setting up a timer?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Same as @Josephcent for me. Same FW. Language set is italian

Ok, Nest Hub 2 gen.

The issue starts 2 weeks ago.

The firmware (Fuchsia) is 26.20250116.103.2900

I ask for a timer of ten minutes and it answers "for what time". Then i repeat "ten minutes" and it answers "for what time". And it goes like this. It never sets the timer.

Same behaviour (forever asking "for what time" and ignoring my answer).

It happens since 10 days ago.

Italian, Nest Mini, i don't know how to check for firmware version.

this only happens if the conversation starts in Italian: example

Hey google "metti" un timer di dieci minuti
google answers: per quanto tempo? (and repeats it endlessly)

if the conversation starts in English but continues in Italian for example: hey google set timer di dieci minuti.

then it works.

I think the problem is related to the keyword that triggers the routine

Hi there,

Thank you all for keeping me updated on what's happened! To continue with the troubleshooting steps, I'd like to share the following with you:

  • Reboot the Google Home
    • From Google Home app: Make sure the phone and the device ir connected to the same Wi-Fi > Open Google Home app > Select the speaker or display > Settings > At the top right, tap More > Reboot.
    • Unplug the speaker or display: Unplug the power cord from speaker or display > Leave it unplugged for one minute > Plug the power cord back in.
  • Attempt to set a timer or alarm.
    • Timer: “Hey Google, set a timer for XX minute.” (Example: "Hey Google, set a timer for one minute.")

    • Alarm: “Hey Google, set an alarm for XX.” (Example: "Hey Google, set an alarm for 3 P.M.")

  • Confirm if the Google Home recognized the question or the command correctly.
    • To test this, ask Google Home a question, then say, 'Hey Google, repeat the question.'
    • Confirm if the question repeated back to you is the same or not.

Keep me in the loop, and I can assist you with next steps.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Hi Eduardo,

I followed your procedure but nothing changed. The device under stand the command if i speak in english, but if i speak in italian it understands that it has to setup a timer but it doesn't understand the duration. I was able to setup a timer of 2 mins (in italian) but then i tried to change the timer and It didn't understand. This to Say that randomly but rarely It works, but it's a Nightmare to delete a single timer.

Hello.

I did the device reset as suggested.

The issue is still happening, when i say "hey google, timer 10 minutes".

But i did some more testing: it is working when i say "hey google, SET a timer of 10 minutes".

This seems like a regression, because i used the shorter formula for some years, but it is acceptable to me.
