Nest Hub not showing all photos

ashkumar06
Community Member

I have my Nest Hub set up to show photos from an album on my Google Photos account. However, it only shows like 15 out of the 60+ photos in the album.

I have already looked at old threads and tried some of the solutions, such as setting the "Personal Photo curation" setting to "Live albums only", and tried favoriting a few photos that were not showing up, but those did not do anything.

Is anyone still having this issue or found another solution that works?

I am surprised that this is still such a problem. Why doesn't Google just have an option to turn curation completely off?

I think I may have figured it out. I think the problem is if the photo is archived or not. I just tried unarchiving a photo in my album and it showed up on the Nest. Archiving it again made it disappear from showing up.

Hi ashkumar06,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let's see what we can do more.

Since you have already tried setting the "Personal Photo curation" setting to "Live albums only", and tried setting some photos as favorites and still the same. It would help a lot if after setting to live albums only, do a sequential reboot starting with your router/modem followed by your Nest Hub. Plug them back in after 5 mins.

Once done, recreate "Live albums" and see if the behavior persists. Also, try to only use 10 photos if there's a difference.

Looking forward to your responses.

Best,

Dan

I just tried that, and unclear if it working. Right now it is just showing me the random Google stock photo curated photos, none of mine. I created a new album with 13 photos, and its still set to "Live albums", I can wait overnight and see if there is any change.

Really disappointed with this whole experience so far. I guess this is why digital photo frames are more expensive than the Nest Hub, at least they show all your photos.

Wanted to follow up and say now the Nest isnt even showing any of the photos in my album. Its just the default Google curated ones

Hey there,

Thank you for trying. Let's double check the photo frames status:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select the device from Home View.
  3. Select the Nest display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Photo frame.
  5. Choose the preferred photo source:
    • Google Photos
    • Art gallery
    • Full screen clock

Also, could I ask for your Nest Hub's OS? Follow the steps below:

  1. On the Nest display, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen, then tap Settings > About device.
  2. If the option Operating System Version is available, then they are on Fuchsia OS.
  3. Send here the results.

For your device's firmware version, click on the link on how to.

Thanks,

Dan

I already have Google Photos selected. I can deselect and reselect it, but it still just shows the "Art Gallery" options, and none of my photos.

Fuchsia OS version: 9.20221010.3.176

Software Version: 50.26.12.493473605

Chromecast Firmware Version: 1.67.330920

Hi ashkumar06,

Thank you for the information you provided. Are you using only one Gmail for your photos and your Google Home? If so, we might need to revert your Nest Hub to its default and original settings by doing a factory reset. Follow the steps below:

  1. On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds.
  2. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.
  3. Once done, re-do the set up.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Dan

Yes I am only using 1 account.

I just did a factory reset, and am seeing the same behavior. I have my Google photos album selected, and set to Live albums only, and it still isn't even showing any of my photos, just the curated stock google photos.

Hi ashkumar06,

Thanks for trying some steps. Could you please try to mark the photos as "Favorites"? Access the photos using Google Photos app and mark the photos you want to see as your "Favorite" and let's check if this would appear on the Nest display.

Let us know how it goes.

Nope it does not work. It doesn't look like it works with a new album at all. I can use it with the album I originally was using (which only shows like 8 of the 70 photos in the album, and was the reason I posted here to begin with).

I'm assuming this isn't a fixable solution at this point. Pretty frustrating since the photo album was the only reason I got a Nest Hub in the first place, and it clearly does not work.

To add context, this is my second time trying to favorite photos and nothing working. I did this when before I made this post as well

Hi ashkumar06,

Thanks! We appreciate your effort. Did you also check the resolution of the photos? Was it in high resolution? Could you please compare the file size of the photo showing to the photos that does not appear on the display.

Keep us posted.
