Nest Hub only showing a portion of photos in personal album

Hi,

I recently implemented my Nest Hub as a digital photo frame and linked it to a Google Photos shared album with 500 photos. However in the Google Home app, it only says 265 of these are showing. My intent here is to display all the photos in this album since I will personally curate the list (ie, avoid using a Live album or favourites).

 

I have already set the photo curation setting to Live Albums only so that isn't the issue. It sounds identical to this other post although there was no clear resolution on that post - https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-display-not-showing-all-shared-p...

 

Has anyone come across a fix to this thus far?

 

Troubleshooting steps taken:

  • Personal photo curation set to Live Albums only - slightly different photos shown (as expected) but still only a fraction of the full list.
  • All 500 photos display on Google Photos web page and mobile app. Only Google Home app shows 265 photos.
  • Display setting changed from Google Photos to Experimental and then back again. This does update the photo count to 500 but it soon reverts to 265.
  • Unplugged the Nest for a minute > Plugged back in - No change.
  • Google Home app uninstalled/reinstalled > Logged back in - No change.
  • Photos are not listed as archived, there are no files in that folder.

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it is when some of your photos are not showing on the Google Nest Hub (2nd generation). A few questions: are the photos shared with you? Have you noticed this issue with other albums? What is the current firmware version of your device?

Hi Muddi,

The photos have been uploaded into the album (which is shared) but I don't believe the individual photos have been specifically shared with me prior to being added. Would this make a difference given I can view all the photos when I use Photos via web page?  Our intent was to just have a central 'dump' album so I have not tried replicating this with other albums just yet.

The current firmware is Fuchsia 14.20230831.4.72

Just as a close out this case, I have found a solution - Save all photos to your Google Photos even if it is on a Shared Album.

It seems like even though a photo has been shared with you via a Shared Album, you will still need a copy of it saved into your Google Photos before Google Home will pick it up. Easiest way to do this is to click "Save Photos" in the top right of an album each time there is a change.
