Nest Hub: "Can't be shown / Websites are turned off for this device"

rdq
Community Member

On all my Nest Hubs (1st and 2nd gen) I cannot view any websites. The display shows:

>>>

Can't be shown

Websites are turned off for this device

...
...

<<<

I went to Notifications & digital wellbeing for each device in Home app and I tried setting up device with and without Digital Wellbeing filters and nothing seems to solve the issue. I created a filter for everyone with Allow Websites checked off, but still no access to web pages.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi rdq,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing detailed information on your issue and the steps that you've done — these are of great help!

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest displays for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal. If the issue remains, you can perform a factory reset to put back your Nest displays back to their default setting and set them up as new devices. Check the steps below for guidance on how to do the reset.

Here’s how to do the reset,  press and hold the volume up and down button located at the back of your Google Nest Hub together for about 10 seconds. You'll hear your Google Assistant confirm that it's resetting your Google Nest Hub.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni

Sorry, I don't understand your original response. This is not a connection/internet/Wi-Fi issue. Also most of these hubs are brand new and just recently setup.

I have restarted the hubs,

Thanks.

Hi rdq,

We understand and thank you for the information.

May we know what exact websites you're trying to access and what commands are you giving to your Nest Hub and Nest Hub 2nd Gen? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Could you try to open a recipe with the command "Hey, Google! Open recipe" and tell us how it goes.

Cheers,

Dan
