Nest Hubs lower Music streaming volume for a few seconds all the time

I have two Nest hubs that I use to listen to full-stereo classical music as they are no good as bluetooth speakers for TV (unsolvable audio delays).

Randomly, while music is playing, the music volume is lowered for several seconds and the small white leds turn on. I guess they are listening to God knows what. After listening, a small "beep" is followed by the music coming back to the normal volume.

By doing that, the Hubs simply destroy any chance to listen properly to a piece of music. While they listen, I tried to insult them, even swearing at them in several different languages. To no avail I am afraid.

Is there any way any routine anything one can do to listen to music without random and repeated unwanted interruptions? Thank you guys.

Hi PdaPaolo,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I appreciate all the details you've shared. Based on how you described it, it looks like there are also other person that can connect to your speakers as it controls its volume while you're using it. Does anyone from the household connected to one of your devices or the two of them? Also, does it happen very often?

Let's start first to check if these settings are checked:

To prevent others on your Wi-Fi network to control your media casting, you can turn off Cast media control notifications on your Chromecast or your speaker or display.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile and then tap Settings Settings and then Recognition & sharing.
  4. Turn Let others control your cast media off.

Let me know if this helps.

Best,

Princess

Thank you Princess

I live by myself in a very isolated house.

it happens randomly e quite frequently.
i see it as a major bug as they enter listening mode as top priority on any other service they provide.

Hi PdaPaolo,

I understand. We can try to perform a complete reset to your device so we can compare its behavior after setting it up again. Here's how: https://goo.gle/32c7nIF

Keep me posted so we can check if there are any changes after the reset.

Best,

Princess
