Nest Hubs stop streaming nest cam when a family bell/notification appears

Hello,

When I am streaming a nest camera and a family bell or notification appears, the nest stream stops and does not restart.

When I am streaming YT Music or YouTube videos, they will resume after a notification or family bell, which is correct.

Please let me know how to fix this so streaming nest cameras does not stop when a family bell or notification appear.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, let’s get this resolved. A few things: was this working before or this is the firs time that you are trying the feature? Do you have other Nest displays? If so, is this happening on those too? What steps have you tried so far?

 

Try to reboot your Nest hub and your WiFi router to refresh the device and your WiFi signal, then observe if it will make a difference.

If so, is this happening on those too? - Yes

What steps have you tried so far? factory reset everything

Try to reboot your Nest hub and your WiFi router to refresh the device and your WiFi signal, then observe if it will make a difference.  - Complete, it did not make a difference.

Apologies for the delayed response.

 

Since doing the sequential reboot didn't work out. I need you to remove and reinstall your Nest Cam from the Google Home app so that we can start fresh. Click the guides below for more information and troubleshooting.

Hello again,

 

Thank you for trying the re-installation of your Nest Cam. Have you also tried the steps on the links above? Since it didn't work, I need you to remove your Nest Hub from your WiFi connection then reconnect. Go to your phone's settings, select Nest Hub then forget network>reconnect. By the way, just so we're on the same page here, could you tell me exactly what devices are affected with this behavior?

Hello. Yes, I reviewed and  tried the steps in the links above.  I just tried to remove and re-add the nest hub to my wifi. No change in behavior.

I am seeing this issue on my nest hub max. Please let me know the steps to fix this so that the family bell does not stop the streaming of the nest camera.  The family bell does not stop the YT music or YT video streaming, so seems to be a bug with nest camera streaming.

Apologies for the delayed response. We wanted to know more about the specifics, if you could humor me a bit? When streaming Nest Camera on your Nest Hub, has it ever gone back to streaming status when a family bell/notification appears? We know, upon research, that when streaming YouTube, when a notification appears, it just pauses the stream. Once the notification is done, it automatically goes back to stream status.

No, as far as I know the nest camera streaming never goes back when its interrupted (either from a family bell or if it hears a "hey google command". Streaming YouTube and music resume as expected, why would streaming different kinds of media (nest camera) result in different outcomes when interrupted? they should all do the same thing (resume the existing stream)

I hear you. Although both are streaming, the difference is for music or music videos, which automatically pauses itself when interrupted by a notification. While streaming a live feed from a camera will also be paused when a notification appears and manually resuming it is a need. We'll take this as a feedback request and we will appreciate it if you can send one about this and for any features that you’re looking forward to using with our Google Nest devices.
