Nest Max speaker pair Bluetooth pairing

I have paired two Google Home Max speakers and now want to link them to my Google TV via Bluetooth pairing.

When I attempt to enable pairing mode I get a message saying “unable to enter pairing mode”. 

Do I need to pair both speakers to Google Chromecast separately then create the speaker pair?

This won’t work I’m afraid. Speaker groups and stereo paired speakers can only be used via casting not Bluetooth. Have you considered creating a speaker group with your Chromecast and Google Home Max instead?

Somehow, we managed to get it to work... I will report back when I know what steps were taken!
