Nest Mini Gen 2 Keeps Restarting

My Nest Mini Gen 2 started randomly restarting one day. I managed to perform a factory reset using the instructions provided on this site, but can not perform an initial "Add Device" to my Google Home app.

I've restarted it multiple times. I performed the Power Off, Power On, x 11 reset process (seemingly successfully) three times. I manually set the WiFi to the device and tried to set it up and this fails each time. I restarted my iPhone multiple times.

Sometimes it sits there with four white lights dimming slightly then coming back up to full brightness over a four second cycle. Sometimes it just reboots again and again and again.

Sometimes it tells me to "Start by downloading the Google Home app", sometimes it doesn't.

This thing seems broken.

Any suggestions as to how I might be able to stop contributing to the local e-waste pile with this little thing?

An observation... I just managed to perform a factory reset using the mic-off switch and hold centre for 10 secs. It came back and told me to download the app, etc. I manually selected the nest's wifi SSID and tried to go through the add device. It detected there was a Nest there, but just after I started the process of attempting to add it, the wifi signal seemed to have dropped off. After the add-device failed, I went back into wifi settings to join it again and it refused to connect.

You could try contacting Support to see if your Nest Mini needs a warranty replacementn.

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Really great suggestion. So thankful that you did reply with what you've written above. Turns out it is still under warranty and it looks like they're going to replace it.
