Nest Mini (and Nest Audio) doesn't speak reminders

Hello Guys.

My name is Eduardo, I'm from Brazil, I have some second-generation Nest Mini devices at home, a Nest Audio and an LG Soundbar with Google Assistant, and in all of them, I have the same problem: Any reminder I say for the devices to warn me at a certain time/date, they just put an LED dot on without ever warning audibly, leaving only the notification on the cell phone.

And, what's worse, when asking what the lit dot means, they inform you that there is a pending notification and that to hear it I need to say the command: "Hey Google, what's up?" But when they say such a command, they act as if they don't know anything and ask how they can help me... And even though I try in every way to inform them that I want to know what notification they have for me, they never understand.

Do any of you experience the same problem, or does it happen only with units operating in the Brazilian Portuguese language?

As if this problem were not enough, I have to put up with jokes from friends who use Alexa showing that their assistants actually give the requested messages, without them having to guess what a luminous dot means.

Hi @eduguedesphoto!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Mini (2nd gen) devices, Nest Audio, and LG soundbar with Google Assistant are experiencing issues with reminders, specifically failing to provide audible alerts. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • Are you using a personal account or a Google Workspace account? Google Workspace accounts are not officially supported to work with this feature.
  • Do you create the reminder directly on your devices or through your phone?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app installed?
  • What commands are you using to set the reminder?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi

Hi @GeremiG!

My Google account is a personal account, including the Google One and Youtube Premium services contracted with it. So I don't think it's something related to my Google account.

Regarding the Google Home app, since I bought my Google Nest Audio in March 2024, I have put it in Early Access Mode of the new versions and, even knowing that this can generate some possible inconsistencies in the app, I don't think this is the problem, because in these 13 months of use, the reminders function has never worked properly.

I've tried to create reminders by dictating directly to Google Nest device, which at the time I do, it seems that it will work perfectly, since the Assistant even goes over the Reminder after setting it up, but when it's time for the reminder, only the point is lit and the notification also appears on the cell phone.

To create the reminder, I take the standard path, for example, told to Assistant: Remember to buy olive oil.
And then she asks me when she should remind me, to which I answer by informing the day and time.
After that, as I reported above, the Assistant passes on the entire reminder informing me that she will notify me on the day/time configured. A warning that never happens.

Anyway, I'm starting to think that this is all a problem related to how Google ported the system to the Brazilian Portuguese language, since apparently those who use it in English don't face the same problems.

Best regards,
Eduardo.
