Nest Mini cannot wifi connect with WPA2 security

jdornski

New Nest Mini will connect to my office WIFI network if I turn off WIFI security on my Telus(CDN. ISP) router. My router will let me enable WPA2 with AES encryption.  I have other devices on network requiring WPA2 security so turning it off not an option. This Nest Mini will work on my home network which does not have security enabled as well.   i  have tried entering SSID and password manually and also allow to retrieve setting from my working phone. This is the second Nest mini which will not connect to WIFI at my office.  I have tried both 5G and 2.4G.

@jdornski have found this as well.

Struglled to understand what was happening.

I have 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi both with separate SSID

This is mirrored across an extra wired Access point.

I had some issues with one mini "hmm there's a problem...." And another simultaneously answering.

After some sleuthing I can reproduce the issue, create and resolve it.

If I turn on WPA mode and auto TKIP/AES on the AP the speaker us connected to it works.

If I select WPA2 and AES. The connected speaker is not working, with the hmm there's a problem... Issue.

Surely these things must support WPA2?

I too am seriously not chuffed on enabling WPA protocols in this day and age.

As you have said not an option...

Google, are you listening and do you have a resolution?

Connected to a single Telus Modem/router with a desktop PC, networked printer and Acer Home server.  I connect a printer and cell phone wirelessly from time to time.

Private network, WPA 2 Personal.

Doesn't matter if 5GHz or 2.4GHz

Only when WPA2 is enabled.

Nobody helped at all. Google needs to do a firmware update to solve this problem.
