Hi,
I work at a small school with cca 5 rooms and I was thinking of buying 5 nest minis to use as school break bell system: to play 30 seconds of a given song at the pre-programmed times to indicate the start of classes (eg. at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 on every weekday, at different times on Fridays and should be off on some holidays to be specified). So far I could gather the info that a routine in google home can be easily set up, but still have some doubts:
-can the trigger be complex, eg can i choose the dates in a calendar when it should not work and also a weekly routine for the rest?
-can we set it to stop after 30 sec? (or: should we make a 30 sec cut version of the song?)
-is the device loud enough to be noticed as a school bell (relatively small rooms, but the activity of the kids can be loud)
-can we create a speaker group and program the routine for all of them together? (Doing them separately would be a pain, but still doable)
-we dont want the kids to interact with the nests, eg to use voice control. Can it be unabled, while other functions still working?
Thanks a lot for any help in the topic!

Just found this, and that nest's max volume is 76 dB- so probably ok, unless the kids are fighting: 😞

Hi fylan,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
I appreciate your interest in integrating Google Nest speakers to use in your school's system. Though creating routines is a good idea, there might be issues in using them especially on specific commands that you want to happen. Google Nest speakers are designed for home or personal use and right now, using it on other establishments such as schools are not yet guaranteed.
Wi-Fi networks on dormitories, hotels, cafe and other establishments are not officially supported by Google Nest speakers, so they may or may not work with this type of network, it is not guaranteed. These type of networks has limitations on what devices can connect to it and also a security risk since this is a public network.
Hope this helps.
Best,
