I have several routines that include multiple commands. My "goodnight" and "good morning" routines have over 10 commands each. Recently, all of my Nest devices are having trouble getting to the end of the routines - they stop in the middle and need to be restarted. There are no error messages or anything like that, and I have not changed any settings on the Nests or anywhere else in my house. Sometimes, I have to start the routine 8 or 10 times to get it to run to the end.
Does anyone else experience this behavior?
Thanks!

Hi Zunkman,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this right now with your devices. Since these are routines that are linked to all of your devices, could you try to check if creating a routine with 5 commands work? I would just like to have a comparison on the one that you will create and from the existing one.
Also, could you please list down the commands listed on your routines so we can replicate this issue from our end?
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Princess

I tried the Good Morning routine this morning 3 times. Here are the commands and results.
1) Cancel my alarm
2) Tell me about the weather
3) What time is sunrise today
4) What time is sunset today
5) When will it rain
6) What's the weather for the next 4 days
7) Tell me about my commute to work
😎 Tell me about today's calendar
9)Tell me about tomorrow's first calendar event
10) Tell me today's tasks
11) Tell me about upcoming birthdays
12) Turn off do not disturb on android devices
13) Tell me if my phone battery is low
14) Living room temperature
15) Scene - Ceiling 1
16) Coffee - Turn on
17) Low Humidifier - Turn off
18) High Humidifier - Turn off
19) Tall Lamp - turn on - Set brightness to 100% - Set color
20) Set Tall Lamp to 6000 kelvin
21) Counter - turn on
22) K3 - Turn on - set brightness to 100% - set color
23) K3 - turn off
24) Announce - "Have a great day"
The first run, it stopped after 12.
The second run (about 30 seconds later) it stopped after 16.
The third run (about a minute later) it stopped after 13.
The routine just stops, no errors, no messages of any kind.
Again, this behavior is consistent across all 7 of my nest hubs. I have a Nest Mesh Wifi, and everything has been rebooted.

Hi zunkman,
Thanks for the details you shared. Have you tried the factory reset? This erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out this link for more information about it.
Best,
Juni

Nope, I have not done a factory reset, and I'm not going to. It's happening on 6 devices - obviously Google changed something on their end. No way I'm setting up 6 devices again!

OK, against my better judgement, I did Factory Reset one of the devices. And here's what was accomplished - Nothing. Automation behavior is still the same - it stops after a random number of steps. It's almost like I only have a certain allocation of processing power from Google, and once that allocation is used up, the automation stops.

If anyone is watching, I have an update.
I got a new modem, factory reset my Nest Mesh, and factory reset my Hubs. I even learned the scripting language and wrote my own automations.
The problem still exists!
Automations stop at some random place every time they are run. I've even put a command "Broadcast I'm done" at the end of some of my routines, and I have NEVER heard "I'm done." Not sure what the problem is or where it is, but this is really frustrating.

Hey zunkman,
Sorry for the delays. We appreciate all your efforts. To confirm, did it work before? Could you try creating a routine with fewer actions or rearranging the actions?
Cheers,
Muddi

These routines HAVE worked for the better part of a year. Suddenly, they stop at random places before finishing. I even have a 4 step automation that sometimes makes it to the end, and sometimes doesn't. This morning, a 24 step automation I wrote in the script editor finished all 24 steps. 10 minutes later, my 4 step automation to turn off the coffee maker and adjust the lights stopped after 2 steps. The problem is completely random.

Hello there,
Got it! Let's further isolate the issue by creating a routine and assigning it to only a specific speaker. Also, add lesser actions that include controlling your home automation devices. This is for us to check if the issue has something to do with the network or with our partners devices.
Keep us posted.
Cheers,

OK, I've created an automation using the "old" method to turn on 10 lights in a very specific order, which will run daily.
I've also created a YAML script to turn off the same 10 lights in the same order, which will also run daily.
As a side note, I've also noticed that the scripts do NOT run "top to bottom". I have a script that should broadcast the time first, and then the weather. EVERY day, I get the weather first, and then the time.
I will post the results soon.
Another side note - I've noticed that the routines MIGHT run longer if at an "off" time. If I run a routine at 8:00 or 9:00, it has 0% chance of finishing, obviously since Google is running more routines at that time. If I run a routine at, say, 19 minutes after the hour, (not a time when most people would start a routine) then they have a slightly better than 0% chance of completing.

Both of the routines that I created yesterday worked flawlessly today. But it's worth noting that my Wake Up routine stopped in the middle again this morning.
