Nest audio not setting up

ondrej_bielcik

Hello,

my nest audio was working properly until one day, when it disappeared from my device (oneplus 10t). I factory reset the nest and went through the device setup all the way until connecting to wifi. I chose the same wifi I'm connected to, but it says that the nest and my phone aren't on the same network, even though they are. AP isolation is turned off on the router, I don't have a wifi extender, and i have tried this on different phone with the same result. Is there a solution that I can do by myself at home, or do I have to visit an expert or throw out the device?

Hi ondrej_bielcik,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further look into it. Are you using a dual-band router? If yes, have you tried connecting your Google Nest Audio to both bands? Do you have VPNs on both your phones? Disable it in the meantime. If the issue persists, try these steps:

  • Connect your Google Nest Audio to a temporary Hotspot:
    • In order to complete the setup for your Google Nest Audio with the use of a mobile hotspot, you need to have the 2 setup devices.
  • First phone will behave as the router. Turn on its data and hotspot.
  • The second device is the setup device. Connect it to the hotspot connection.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Audio once more.
  • Using the second setup device, open the Google Home app > Follow the set-up instructions > Choose the Hotspot network on the “Connect to WiFi” page.
    • If Google Nest Audio connects to the Hotspot just fine, the issue is likely with the internet/router. To further isolate it, continue to the next steps.
  • While the phone is connected to the Hotspot, open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap on Google Nest Audio > Settings > Device information > Wi-Fi > Forget Wi-Fi.
  • Connect the setup device to your home Wi-Fi > Do the setup steps again and try connecting to your home Wi-Fi.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
