Nest audio stops playing music, can't connect, and has glitches

Hello! Partial repost (due to thread being locked) and added information

I use 2 nest audios at home and one h&k Citation One  (gen1) for music etc through spotify connect/casting.

However, the playback on the two nests is extremely unreliable and wonky. They'l play half a song and then stop playing audio (even if spotify continues running the song) either permanently or resume after 30+ seconds. This happens all the time, every day, but NEVER on the Citation One. *Edit* the citation one has started behaving in a similar manner to the nest audios, and all of the chromecast speakers need constant restarts in order to actually connect and play the song, radio or podcast (i've tried multiple different media sources). They either say "connecting" and nothing happens, or they connect, the speaker plays the sound, and then nothing happens. Other times the media source will continue playing (the timeline is still running on the song etc) but the actual audio has stopped playing from the speaker.

If the speaker is restarted it generally connects and plays for a little without much issue, and then next time I try to use it the above happens.

The speakers also say "something went wrong" or "there was a glitch" quite often, especially the H&K one since that is the one used in the kitchen for timers etc/voice commands.

Are there things that I need to do with my wifi to make them run more reliably? The weird thing is that they have worked perfectly well in the past, but these days are riddled with issues despite me not changing anything with my networking.

I've tried re-adding/factory resetting them but the issues persist.

Thank you,

Hi Evanic,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear about this experience. We appreciate all the details you've shared as well as the steps you tried. Since you have tried performing a complete reset, can you try to simply unplug all your speakers together with your router? Unplug the devices for a few minutes and plug it back. That way we can also eliminate the network congestion.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

I've tried turning everything off for extended periods to no avail, the issue remained.

Eventually I've managed to make the 2/3 speakers function properly by running them on the 5ghz band instead of the 2.5. Great, now they work as advertised. Problem is though that by adding them to the 5ghz wifi band I've rendered that entirely unusable by any other device, as for some reason, adding the speakers to it has caused it to have insane lag/packetloss or whatever for my desktop pc - which is the only other device on the 5ghz band. If i swap my pc to the 2.5ghz band, it works perfectly fine. And so was the 5ghz before I added the two chromecast speakers to it.

It baffles me how these two speakers can hog and break an entire band for the one and only other device on it - entirely on their own.

These products are such a headache.

Hi Evanic,

We appreciate all the details you've shared as well as your effort on trying some workarounds. Could you tell us the distance of each speakers from each other as well as the router?

They're pretty close to each other but in separate rooms, probably about 4m apart  but separated by a wall. And the router is about 10m away from the speakers.

Hi Evanic,

Thanks for responding. Could you please try to move it closer to the router so we can check if you will also experience the same thing? Also, it would be best to try this after rebooting your router simply by unplugging it from the power source for at least a few minutes. That way, we can avoid network congestions and get the better connection.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess
