Nest display photo frame

No matter what I try and I've tried everything! Favoring photos, switching between live album and all albums, uploaded duplicates to multiple albums, I have my favorites and all albums with specific photos setup for my photo frame to show on slideshow and half the photos I want to see NEVER show, this is rediculous. What's the deal? Why are they not showing

Hi, I've the same Issue on my 3 Nests Hubs. 

I've search on some forums if there's any options to stop random slideshow or to put some flags on all foto in order to let them visible as the other that i see more fequently.

Someone can help us?

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. My apologies for the delayed response.

 

I know how challenging it can be when you're having issues with your Google Nest display. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. A few questions: when did the issue start? Which specific Nest Hub do you have (1st, 2nd gen, Nest Hub Max)? Are you using the same account where the photos are saved? Are the photos showing on screen when you use the command, "Hey Google, show <name of album>"?

 

Please note that Google Photos automatically attempts to select what it thinks are the best photos from the Live Albums and Recent Highlights. Google Photos attempts to remove objectively bad photos (blurry, photos with poor exposure, low resolution, near duplicate) but doesn't otherwise curate the contents of your albums. You can completely turn off curation for private and shared albums when you change the Personal photo curation setting to Live albums only. No curation at all is done on Favorites.

 

Follow these steps below to know-how:

 

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap the Nest display and then Settings Settings and then Photo frame. 
  3. Tap Google Photos and then Select a photo album.
  4. Tap each face to include them in the Live Albums.
  5. Once finished, tap Confirm.

Hi Muddi, thanks for your reply. 

I've both model 1st and 2nd generation of Nest hub. 

The account is the same on google home app and google photo app. 

I've create an album on which I put all the photo that I want to see on my photo frame. 

I've try to do the step you mention, but when I'm in Photo album, I tap on face but nothing appened.

Is it possible to disable the ramdom show mode for photo frame?

I have all versions and they all have the same issue, what do you mean tap on the face to add to live albums, there's no option other then adding to favorites which I've done and have set up to live albums along with the addition original albums, still half do not show up,  people know what photos they want seen why would Google decide which ones for us? Please turn that off immediately as I paid alot of money for all the displays to show the pictures I intended to show not my photos Google decides. This is exceptionally frustrating

Thanks for trying. To confirm, are you trying to enable live albums on Google Photo? What country you are located in? Please note that photo curation is a feature from the Google Photo itself and not on the Nest display.

I've done everything, live albums people labeled and specific albums highlighted and turned on, all albums, favorites checked and all albums highlighted and still no matter what about 30% of high quality photos DO NOT get shown onto the latest nest hub display and it's the same issue with the little Google displays! How do I proceed?

Also I have about 200 photos tagged and labeled as my wife and I under people and our names , and when I click on that category where you add pictures based on the people tagged in the Google photos to be shown on the display it says there's only one photo! 🙄

Hello everyone, 

@Lalla, you can find the Live album option under Photo Frame. Here's how: Open the Google Home app > Select your display icon > Choose the Settings at the upper right > Photo Frame > Scroll down to Personal photo curation > Select Live album only. Also, the shuffle is automatic, so the device will run through all the photos in the albums that you picked. You can create an album with only one image if you wish to have one photo showing on your display screen.

@Beck1, please factory reset and setup your Google Nest Hub Max first. If you've tried this, fill out this form so our specialist team can get a hold of you via email.

Yes we all know that, the problem persists as explained from the beginning of us all implementing live albums, then all albums, favoriting photos and incorporating that category among other specific albums and still many photos do not appear, for example I have 50 photos in an album I switch on live albums then highlight the specific album I want displayed and instead of the 50 photos bring displayed there are about 10 being displayed DVD three other 40 MISSING we do not know how to be more clear photos are not being displayed no matter what STOP DECIDING FOR US WHICH PHOTOS TO SHOW AND INSTEAD SHOW ALL IN WHATEVER ALBUM I SAY TO SHOW , THE END FIX IT OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK ON 3 NEST HUB MAX AND 5 GOOGLE DISPLAYS!

Hi Muddi, 

no I don't want to enable live albums, I've made one album specific for the photo frame slide show on all my Nest hub. I'm from Italy, and I would see all of my photo on the album I've created on my photo frame :). 

I've wrote also on the Italian forum for google photo but they told me to write here. 

So anyone can help me?

Thanks for confirming. Please note that for Google Photo to stop filtering curated photos, we need to enable the live albums from the Google Photo app itself.

Hello Muddi, 

nothing new, Nest show the photo that he wants 😐. I've try to allow the live album but I can't find them on google Photo. I'm sorry but I just want to know, is Google Photo that manage the shuffle mode on Nest? Is it possible to disiable the shuffle mode? Where I can find the way to allow live album?

I’m having a very similar issue. 60 photos in my Google album, currently set to live albums only (have also tried all albums), have tried every combination and the Google Max Nest settings but it continues to only rotate between 2 photos. Would really appreciate some help here

I am having the same issue (Nest Hub), I currently have my frame setup to display a rotating list of quotes that are black images with white text. When I enable curation for all albums, it won't display any of the images. When I switch the setting to live only curation, it will display a few, but not all of them. The preview in the app also shows only a subset of the images.

This is particularly annoying for me, because I have setup a webservice to automatically convert quotes I save in my OneNote to images that are then uploaded to the frame. The images appear in the photo album in Photos, but only some of them actually are shown on the frame. It is unbelievably frustrating to setup a pipeline across multiple services and API boundaries to then have the process ruined at the last mile by an arbitrary curation algorithm in the physical hardware. 

 

I otherwise have been quite happy with my hub, but I am strongly considering replacing it because of this "feature" that cannot be disabled. I have followed the suggested steps in this thread and others multiple times, all to no effect. I am happy to get on a video call with a support representative to demonstrate the issue. Please fix this issue, it is a glaring defect in an otherwise solid product.
