Nest doesn't always listen

Hi

I found that when I say the wake word followed by something 15 minute timer it sometimes just hears 1 timer and starts this. Another situation is when I ask to add something to my shopping list it misheard and adds something else.

All times I'm speaking clearly and have adjusted the sensitivity to +2.

Is the problem just that the microphones on the nest minis are not the good? 

I have 1 amazon echo and it seems much more responsive to voice even when speaking at a low volume.

Is there anything i can do to improve the nest mini?
