Nest hub routine not working

samvanderputte
Community Member

Hello,
I’m using a nesthub, unfortunately the routines aren’t working. Not even the standard routines. I can see them on the hub and I can also see the ones that I installed, but when I click on them nothing happens. When I click on them via the app the only thing I hear is a simple sound. The routines do work on my Google speaker, which is located in another room. How is this possible and how can I solve this?
Kind regards, Sam

Hi samvanderputte,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about this. Before we try some steps, can you please verify what country are you in? Let's also make sure that language set on your device is English US.

Here's some guid to follow:

Use a ready-made Routine

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Routines and then choose the Routine you want to edit. If Routines is not present, follow these troubleshooting steps.
  3. By default, ready-made Routines already have existing triggers that can’t be deleted. If you want to add an additional trigger, tap When I say to my Assistant and then Add another and then Done.
  4. Go back to the Routines screen, then tap Add action and then choose a routine category and then choose an action and then tap Done.
  5. Tap Save.

Create a custom Routine

Optional: You can turn on personal results to get personal info like calendar events and commute information.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Routines and then Add near the bottom of the screen.
  3. Under “How to start,” tap Add starter and then choose the trigger you want for your Routine.
    • Voice command: Add the voice commands that you want to use for your Routine.
    • (Optional) Time: Have your Routine activate at a specific time.
    • (Optional) Sunrise/Sunset: Choose whether to have your Routine activate at sunrise or sunset.
    • (Optional) Dismiss an alarm: Automatically start your Routine when you dismiss an alarm on your speaker or display.
  4. Under “This Routine will,” tap Add action and then choose a routine category and then choose an action and then tap Done.
  5. Tap Save.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess
