Nest mini 2

Hello.

I tried playing music from my phone to my google nest mini 2 speaker. Me being at work and my speaker home. When I ask my google assistant to play something using my phone mic when prompted into the assistant, and execute the proper command, it says "Sorry, can't do that yet".

Now here's my question. Is there any way to remotely control my nest mini 2 and the music it plays from my workplace? Or I have to be on the same wifi?
