Stereo Pair keeps renaming itself

Ssanchez0709

Hello, I’m seeking some help from the community for the following issue.

I own a total of 3 best audio speakers, 1 in my master bedroom and 2 in my living room.

The two in my living room are connected in stereo mode and the group name is “Living Room Surround” . Before that I named each speaker individually as Left Speaker and Right Speaker so I can distinguish them apart.

For some reason when I leave my home and check the home application the Stereo group disappears and only displays my left speaker … I’ve done at least 2 factory resets to see if it’s a bug/glitch but keeps renaming itself when I check the home app when not connected to my home WiFi which the speakers are connected to. The right speaker completely disappears from my list and I have to do the whole reconnection process all over again. Has anyone experienced this, if so how did you resolve?

Thanks in advanced!

Hi Ssanchez0709,

Thanks for posting.

Sorry to hear about this. I appreciate all the details you've shared and it looks like you've pretty much done all the possible troubleshooting steps. Since you've tried resetting the device, let's try to create a speaker group on different home structure and let's see if this would make any changes.

Keep me posted.

That has legit been my only solution at the moment, I actually went and returned both speakers and got two brand new ones because at this point I was thinking there was a defect on them from factory but come to find out, even the new speakers do the same which leads me to believe it is a bug within the app itself. The new speakers are doing the exact same thing.

for now my solution has been to group them which gets the job done but also rather annoying that the speakers I purchased to use in that specific “stereo” mode cannot even work in its basic functions that are offered. I even went ahead and bought two more for the simple fact that I love the quality of the sound that comes from these affordable speakers but I do say that the app definitely needs some updates and fixes.

One more thing that I’d want to see ASAP is the feature to be able to set all speakers in a group and then cast VIA Bluetooth to the group. I own an iPhone and cannot cast via Bluetooth with a group of all my speakers put together. I am only allowed to shuffle my media through the google home app and cannot choose a specific song to play if I wanted to, the only way would be to speak it by request into the “hey google” command. Please take this feature into consideration for the next rolled out update!

Hi Ssanchez0709,

Thanks for responding.

Just to verify, what you're trying to do is Stereo Pairing which needs to be 2 same Google Nest Audio to be paired at the same time, is that right?

For the best sound quality, place the 2 speakers:

  • On top of a solid, level surface and away from the edge of the surface.
  • At the same height as each other.

Let's try first to set up 2 Google Nest Audio as it is meant to be setup as paired then let's see if that works.

Keep me posted.

No that is not what I am saying …

I was able to connect my two speakers in stereo.

The problem I am having now is that I created a group with all 5 of my speakers … I want to be able to cast my music from my phone via Bluetooth the the group of 5 speakers but I do not see this feature/function available. All I am able to do is speak “hey google play music from my apple library” but this is not the same as choosing a specific playlist or selecting a specific song via my Apple Music app and then casting via Bluetooth.

Hi Ssanchez0709,

Thanks for clarifying.

Let's make sure that the Home app is updated on its latest version and also connected to the same Wi-Fi network where the speakers are connected. Also, if possible, let's try to use a different device for comparison if you will also get the same options when casting.

Let me know if this works for you.

Princess
