Nest mini - Double ding and not able to cast to device

Greetings all, 

I have 2 Nest mini 2nd generation that is causing a lot of frustration. They have been online but now I have reset them and want to add them again. 

The ad-on process is smothly until app ask me to test the "Hello google" function. When I try this I get 2 "dings" and alle 4 white lights flashes 2 times.  This happens as soon as I say anything, so I'm not even able to give a command. 

I see them in Google home, I can control the volue up and down. But trying to cast from i.e. YouTube music then they are not shown as a device I can cast to. 

 

I have tried resetting 50 times by now. I have tried the power off * 10 and wait 10 seconds, nothing. I have unstalled Google Home and reinstalled. I have tried on IPad instead of Iphone but I'm getting no where. 

 

Anyone who have a suggestion?

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing trouble casting and giving commands to your two Google Nest Mini speakers. I understand how frustrating that can be, and I'm here to help.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide the following information?

  • What frequency band are you using for your Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

  • Have you recently changed any Wi-Fi network settings (e.g., password, SSID, security protocol)?

  • Are you using a VPN on either your iPhone or iPad?

  • When you hear '2 dings,' are they error tones or the normal activation tones you expect when saying 'Hey Google'?

  • Just to confirm, are you certain the devices are not muted using the mute switch on the side?

  • Do the Nest Minis respond to any voice commands at all, such as 'What time is it?' or 'What is the temperature?'

  • When you attempt to cast from YouTube Music, are you using the same Wi-Fi network as the Nest Minis?

  • Are you able to cast to any other devices on your network without issue?
