Nest mini doesn't recognize my household contacts

jktj

I am trying to make an outgoing call on my nest mini but it won't recognize my household contacts (I have myself and my wife set up as household contacts) when I ask it to make a call. I have asked the device to list my household contacts and it accurately names myself and my wife as the two contacts but when I ask to make a call and say my name or my wife's name it says it doesn't recognize that contact. Any idea what is causing this issue?

Hey jktj,

My apologies for the delayed response. To confirm, are you having issues with other features like playing your playlist or getting your calendar events? Does the same thing happen when your wife calls using the speaker? Also, what are the steps that you've done so far?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

It doesn't have any issues playing playlists or doing anything else. No matter who tries to make a call, it doesn't work. I have tried messing with the settings to make it work but haven't found a solution.

Hey jktj,

Sorry for the delays. Are you able to call by saying their number? If yes, clean up your lists and check if there's duplicate contacts.

To clean up your contacts:

  1. Go to contacts.google.com.
  2. Tap Search or the search field, and enter the name of the contact you want to update.
  3. Tap the contact you want to keep.
  4. Under “Contact details,” verify that a phone number is present.
    • If needed, tap Edit to update your contact’s information and then Save.
  5. Now, return to your contacts and find and tap the name of a duplicate contact.
  6. Tap More More menu and then Delete.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi
