Nest mini speaker losing wifi connection regularly

I have a Nest mini speaker that worked great for a few years but has developed a fault.

Every few days it will report that the connection is lost or it needs setting up.

I have tried it in lots of different places even 2-3m in the same room!  it connects up fine in the Google Home app but after a few days it will go off saying lost connection or `this speaker needs setting up' .

Nothing else has changed, It connects to the same wifi and my other google nest min speaker still works fine upstairs.

Hi John_77,

Thanks for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear your Nest Mini keeps losing its Wi-Fi connection. Help’s here!.

To gather more information, I’d like to ask the following questions:

  • What device are you using to set up your Nest Mini?
  • Has Nest Mini ever successfully connected to this network before?
  • Have you recently made any changes to your Wi-Fi setup?
  • What is the firmware version of the affected speaker and your other speaker?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

  • Ensure your mobile device and Google Home app are up-to-date.
  • Restart both your Nest Mini and your mobile device. For reference, you can check out this article: Reboot Google Nest or Home speaker or display.
  • Update your router's firmware if necessary.
  • Reboot your router by unplugging it for 2 minutes, then plugging it back in.
  • If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, try connecting the Nest Mini to the 5 GHz network. For reference, you can see this article: My speaker or display is not connecting to Wi-Fi.

If these steps don't resolve the inconvenience, you can try performing a factory reset on the Nest Mini and setting it up again through the Google Home app. If possible, test the Nest Mini on a different Wi-Fi network or with a different mobile device.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
