Nest music alarms STILL not working

I can see a number of previously closed threads where people have experienced the same issue, but I’m yet to see a resolution that actually fixes the problem.

For months I used my nest mini to set a music alarm each morning and it played the radio station I instructed it to just fine. Then about 6 months ago it started playing up.
When I set the alarm before bed, assistant tells me that they’ll play the radio at x time. However, every morning when the alarm goes off, there’s no music, just the alarm tone. Early on when this started to happen, I would tell assistant to stop the alarm and then the music would play. More recently though, all I get is silence. But if I ask assistant to play the same radio station, it will play it without issue.

I have also had occasions where the alarm hasn’t gone off at all, despite *knowing* that I definitely set it or it being a regular alarm. Then assistant will tell me I have not set any alarms 😡

The main reason I bought the nest mini in my bedroom was to use it for music alarms so I could leave my phone out of the room and not have screen distractions in bed. But this issue makes it completely useless as an alarm.

I’ve also done all the things recommended, I’ve checked the default music app, I’ve rebooted it, I’ve checked the software is up to date etc. etc. Rebooting and/or updating the software solves the problem for a day or two max. Then I have to keep doing it. Why can’t it just work? This is incredibly frustrating  and I don’t think it should be an insurmountable task for the nest mini to perform. And why is it still happening years after previous people have reported the same problem?

Hi there,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Try the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again.

Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Best,
