Nest speaker turns off night mode

I have two speakers, one a google mini (maybe 5 years old) and a nest audio (maybe 1 year old). The bigger neat is set as the main speaker. Both I set with night mode so they go quiet between 7pm and 7am. No problems with the old google mini, but the nest audio keeps turning my night mode setting off. It lasts for a few days/weeks (it varies) but then resets. Everytime I put the settings back in (they are completely reset) I check the ole faithful mini and it still has its settings.

Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about this. Can you tell us when did you notice it? Also, since it is the only device that is affected, have you tried to perform a complete reset? Let's go ahead and try it first and observe if it will show the same behavior.

I think this has been happening since I got it but it's hard to narrow down when it happens as it can be a few weeks (latest has lasted 2 weeks so far) or a few days.

I have performed a factory reset and will just have to wait and see now

so far so good. Although going into the settings to check Night Mode is still on may stop it from resetting. I think a few weeks before checking again is required.

We appreciate your efforts. Could you please provide the cast firmware version of the affected Google Nest speakers?

 

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Filled in, thanks for the support.

We rebooted our router over the weekend and the nest audio kept the night mode setting. So maybe it does, maybe it doesn't have anything to with it.

Cast firmware is 1.56.299428

I think the speaker may reset the night mode if the internet drops out - we have issues when it rains and have to reboot our router. The reset of the setting seems to match up with a reboot.
