Nest won't play requested songs on YouTube music premium

Having a very frustrating time with Google at the moment so if anybody can help that would be much appreciated ha!

Here's the issue, I have a YouTube premium account and have been able to request songs using the "hey Google" command up until recently. My wife had also been able to use this request and we've used it daily to keep two toddlers happy!

However now we get the message "requesting songs is only available for YouTube premium subscribers". Then Google plays a radio station instead! This is very frustrating as I have a premium account.

Another thing we noticed is on one particular day it worked for every second or third request and didn't work at other times. It's a difficult one to solve as there's no logic to the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello nellser,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

We're sorry to hear about that experience. Ideally, if you're a premium subscriber, playing music should be easy and ad-free. Have you already tried performing a complete reset to your speakers to see if this would make any difference? If not, here's how: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Let me know if this step works.

Best,

Princess
