Nest Hub - 'something went wrong try again later'

Skem

I recently upgraded my internet and wifi router to a Google nest wifi.

Ever since I since I have done this my Google Nest Hub display gives an error message almost every time I make a request like 'set timer' with 'something went wrong try again later'

If I reboot it usually works for a little while, I have also tried removing and re-adding the device but again only worked for a little while.

The Nests Wi-Fi Mesh points also have the same problem I have tried turning of the mics on the mesh points but this has not worked either

I've had the same kind of issue for a long time now.  I had to unplug my Hub for a period of time, but when I plugged it back it, and expected it come back up to a working a screen, all I get is the error message that something went wrong.  I tried to remove the device and add back on, and I even had trouble with that.  For months now, it has been sitting on it's shelf, with just a black screen, and an error message.  I can't figure out what to do to make it work again.  I had no problems with it prior, and nothing else, like my wifi, etc, changed.  It was just unplugged for a few weeks.  Very frustrating.  BUT, all of my other devices have worked well, really without issues at all, for years now.  So I am grateful for that.  But still very frustrating not to be able to use my hub.  Any suggestions or ideas as to how to get it back up and running would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Hi everyone,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for the both of you. Let’s further look into it.

Skem, do you have other Google Home/Nest speakers or displays aside from the Google Nest Hub? Try to do these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Favorites > Wi-Fi > Network Settings > Advanced Networking.
  • Tap DNS.
  • Select Custom and enter “8.8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4”.
  • Go back to Wi-Fi > Settings.
  • Tap Privacy Settings.
  • Toggle Nest Wifi cloud services off and on, then tap Save.
  • Restart your entire network and Google Nest Hub.

jaig, are those other devices you mentioned Google Home/Nest devices? If you have access to your router settings, try to change the DNS server as well. Use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. If iPV6 is turned on, disable it in the meantime, then reboot the router and your Google Nest Hub.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
