New 2nd Gen Nest Hub Won't Connect to Wifi During Setup

I recently got a 2nd Gen Nest Hub but am having an issue setting it up.

I'm using a Pixel 6 to set up (I do not have access to another device to use), and I do not have a dual band router.

I am able to find and connect to my Nest Hub with no issues. However, when I get to the wifi selection, the Home app just keeps getting stuck on "Connecting to Wi-Fi" screen. I have tried rebooting the Nest device, my router, and my phone, all with no change. Any thoughts on what might be happening?

Having the same problem I was gifted a 2nd Hub Max and I'm having all types of problems getting it connected to my system.  I'm using a pixel 6 pro but the Home app.  Will not allow the 2nd Hub Max to activate... It acknowledges the device with a grayed out id#. Why is this so complicated. Am I missing a step in the setup?

I've been having the same issue with my Nest Hub (2nd gen) since August 11 - it will not connect to wifi.  The hub had been working fine since I bought it in January 2022. I noticed that August 11 is the same date as the recent firmware update (now  1.56.309385). After spending too much time in chat with Google support, there was no solution. Even though every other device is working properly in our home, the support direction was to find the fault with our wifi - and not the product or firmware.  Support never asked which phone I used to setup, but it's a Google Pixel 4a5g

Perhaps this is related to this issue with Pixel phones:

It seems Google Nest has known about this problem since at least June 6, 2022:

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it can be when your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) is not connecting to the network. To eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Nest Hub (2nd gen).

@MplsCustomer: Thanks for helping here. The links are helpful for those users getting "Device needs to be activated" when using Pixel phones for set up.

Cheers,
