New Nest Hub stuck on "Link Account" screen

My Brand new Nest Hub is stuck on Link Account screen during setup process.  When I go to my Google Home app and try to add the device it does not show up.

Tried factory resets, resetting my phone, forgetting wifi and reconnecting etc.  When I first come out of factory reset the language has defaulted to Chinese and I can find the device to add it, but the process then falls down at the point of connecting to WiFi when "something has gone wrong" appears on my phone.  I can see the device at this stage with my phone but cannot add it.  I then power down the Nest Hub and it defaults back to "Link Account" unless I again perform a factory reset and rinse/repeat.....

Driving me crazy

Same here. It doesn't do back to Chinese but it does get stuck at Link Account. My account is linked. Sooooo frustrating!!!

Hi everyone,

This certainly hasn’t been easy for both of you. Let’s further look into it. Are you using a regular Gmail account or a Google Workspace account? On the Google Home app > Devices > Scroll down. Do you see your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen under Other Cast/Local Devices? If yes, tap on it > Add to a room. If the issue persists, try these steps:

  • Install the Google Assistant app on your phone.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Reboot your router, phone, and Google Nest Hub 2nd gen. Move your display closer to the router during the initial setup.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen once more, then setup.

Let me know how it goes.

Alex

I have the same problem. Nest suddenly stoped working. Nest is theoretically connected. I can control its audio from my phone, but it's stuck on the "Link Account" screen. I tried disconnecting the device from my home in the home app. Reset to factory settings. Restart the router. Nothing.

I checked if I can connect it to another Wi-Fi network in another house [but on the same google home app] and it connects normally and everything is fine. Why is there a problem here?

second question, how to uninstall and reinstall the google home app? You can only uninstall updates, you cannot remove the entire app.

Hey Dzwiedz,

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Since Google Nest Hub connected fine on other WiFi, there may be a setting on your router preventing your Google Nest Hub from working. Try to configure some settings on your router:

  • Change the DNS server to “8.8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4”.
  • If iPV6 is on, turn it off in the meantime.
  • Reboot your router.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Hub and then set it up.

Let me know how it goes.

Alex
